An argument between a customer and waitress about service Friday at the Waffle House on Boundary Street escalated when the waitress hit the customer on the head with a pot of coffee, according to a Beaufort Police Department report.
The customer said she became upset after waiting 25 minutes to be served and began to argue with the waitress, Police Chief Matt Clancy said.
The waitress struck the customer on the head with a coffee pot, according to Clancy, who added that medical attention was not required.
Authorities were called to the scene at about 3:20 a.m. They searched the waitress and found what was believed to be marijuana in her apron pocket.

The waitress was arrested on charges of misdemeanor assault and battery and possession of marijuana. The Seabrook resident was released on her own recognizance, according to the Beaufort County Detention Center log.
