Investigators are sifting through differing accounts of a shooting Christmas Day at a Bluffton mobile home that killed a 25-year-old man.
The Beaufort County Sheriff's Office has heard from witnesses with different versions of the events leading up to the death of Adrian Allen Hilliard of 5 Jade Stone Court, and was unable to release much new information Tuesday, said Sgt. Robin McIntosh, public information officer.
Deputies and emergency medical personnel arrived at about 1 a.m. Sunday after receiving a call from someone inside the mobile home where Hilliard was shot, McIntosh said.
An incident report released Tuesday by the Sheriff's Office said officers discovered Hilliard with a gunshot wound to the left side of his face. A handgun is listed as the weapon used.
Hilliard died Sunday morning after being flown by helicopter to Memorial University Medical Center in Savannah.
An autopsy is scheduled for today at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston, according to county coroner Ed Allen.
Four men had been drinking and using drugs at the home, Sheriff P.J. Tanner has said.
The incident report contains a description collected at the scene of an alleged shooter, but that information, given by witnesses at the home, is not accurate and has since changed, McIntosh said.
"That turned out to be one of several stories we received about what happened," she said.
No one was in custody related to the incident as of Tuesday afternoon, according to the county jail log.
