Four Beaufort men are in the Beaufort County jail after allegedly breaking into a Port Royal home early Sunday and attacking the home's resident.
Zakery Findlay, 20, Daniel Smithpeters, 22, Robert Curnell, 18, John Decarolo, 17, and a juvenile male forced their way into a home on 16th Street and beat and robbed the resident at gunpoint, police say.
The group was arrested hours later by police officers and sheriff's deputies, according to Port Royal Police spokesman Capt. Alan Beach.
The victim, who knew at least one of his attackers, was treated at Beaufort Memorial Hospital and released soon after the incident, Beach said.
The suspects were charged with first-degree burglary, second-degree assault and battery by a mob, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a violent crime. Their bonds were $150,000 each, according to the jail log.
