A Bluffton man wanted in connection with a July 20 strong-arm robbery escaped law enforcement after running from a traffic stop at 4 p.m. Friday, according to the Beaufort County Sheriff's Office.
Deputies searched for Preston Morse, 28, after establishing a perimeter in the Westbury Park area near Buck Island Road and deploying a canine team. The manhunt was called off at 6 p.m.
Morse is wanted in connection with a robbery and assault of a 42-year-old woman who was hit on the head from behind with an unknown object, choked and robbed of $300 at the Estates at Westbury apartments.
Morse is described as white, about 6-foot-4, 180 pounds. His last known address is in the Windtree subdivision, a news release said.
