Authorities are investigating the death of a 19-year-old Ridgeland man in his Spartanburg apartment as a homicide, according to the Associated Press.
Investigators said an employee at the apartment complex found the body of DeAndre Nitique Fulton-Smith on Monday after his mother asked someone to check on him because she hadn't heard from him.
Spartanburg County Sheriff Chuck Wright says Fulton-Smith was studying business at Spartanburg Community College and made money by cutting hair at his apartment.
Deputies say Fulton-Smith's 2011 light blue Toyota Camry is missing.
The coroner's office did not release a cause of death and has scheduled an autopsy.
