Two St. Helena Island teens died and another was injured early Friday after an SUV crashed into a tree, according to the S.C. Highway Patrol.
Stephan Brown, 19, was headed south on Seaside Road on St. Helena at about 1 a.m. in a 2004 Jeep Cherokee and drove off the right side of the road, according to patrol Lance Cpl. Bob Beres.
"The driver overcorrected, ran off the left side of the roadway and then struck a tree," Beres said.
Brown and a passenger, Shaequan Matthews, 19, died in the crash, according to Beaufort County Coroner Ed Allen. Brown and Matthews were pronounced dead at the scene from multiple trauma, Allen said.

A passenger identified as Bobby Price, 17, also of St. Helena Island, was taken to the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston, Beres said.
Information on Price's condition was unavailable Friday, according to a hospital spokesman.
Neither the driver nor the passengers were wearing seat belts, according to Beres.
The wreck remains under investigation by the Highway Patrol.
