The Lowcountry Heat, on the verge of elimination in the American Legion baseball playoffs Wednesday, pulled out a wild 17-15 win Thursday night at Camden to even their first-round series 2-2.
Camden took a 9-5 lead in the bottom of the fourth with six runs, and held a 14-9 lead after six innings, but Post 185 came storming back with eight runs in the top of the seventh to take a 17-14 lead. The Heat (13-12) had only two hits in the inning -- from Ryan Ward and Kevin Hickey -- taking advantage of some wild pitching by Camden. Ward scored twice during the frame.
Hickey finished the game 3 for 5 with three RBIs, and John Sheehan had two RBIs for Post 185, which finished with nine hits. Camden (15-9) had 18 hits on the night.
Nic Levy got the win in relief for the Heat, who host the decisive fifth game at 7 tonight at Hilton Head Island High School.
