Sun City to participate in earthquake drill
Sun City Hilton Head residents will take part in the Great Central U.S. ShakeOut at 10:15 a.m. Thursday to raise awareness of earthquake preparedness and to practice safety responses.
After an automated phone call alerts them to the drill, residents and employees will practice the "drop, cover and hold on" technique for at least one minute.
The ShakeOut drill began in California three years ago. This is the first year that 2.9 million people across 11 states are expected to participate.
