U.S. Sen. Jim DeMint is scheduled to visit Beaufort County on April 21, though details are still being worked out, and it's unclear if residents will have the opportunity to meet the tea party conservative or hear him speak.
"The schedule is not final yet," said Ryan Dawkins, a spokeswoman with DeMint's office.
Beaufort County Councilman Brian Flewelling said he and his wife Angel have wanted to bring DeMint to the Lowcountry and are working with the Beaufort County Republican Party to arrange the visit.
"I've been begging him to come for a long time," Angel said.

She said DeMint is supposed to be in town for a portion of the Heritage golf tournament, which kicks off April 21 and runs through April 24.
DeMint was elected to the Senate in 2004 and reelected by a 62-28 percent margin in 2010, defeating Democrat Alvin Greene. Prior to that, he served as U.S. Representative for the state's fourth congressional district, which includes Greenville and Spartanburg.
