The Beaufort/Jasper Multi Agency Drug Task Force arrested a 59-year-old Beaufort man on numerous drug charges Wednesday, seizing cocaine, marijuana and other controlled substances from his home, according to the Beaufort County Sheriff's Office.
Naim A. Halim was charged with trafficking cocaine, possession with intent to distribute crack cocaine, possession with intent to distribute marijuana and possession of controlled substances, a news release said. His bonds for all of the charges total $130,000, according to the Beaufort County Detention Center log. Halim also goes by the name Eugene Bryant, according to Sgt. Robin McIntosh.
The task force learned that drug were being sold at Halim's Congress Street residence in February, the release said. When the home was searched at about 4 p.m. Wednesday, four other people were in the home with Halim, the release said.
The task force seized about 70 grams of powder cocaine, two grams of crack cocaine, 40 grams of marijuana, 10 controlled-substance pills and $1,858 in cash, according to the release.
The investigation is ongoing, with more arrests and charges expected, the release said.
