The Bluffton Police Department made a fourth arrest Wednesday in a string of car break-ins that occurred Feb. 5 in The Farm at Buckwalter Place.
Joseph Henry Waitekus, 17, of Bluffton faces charges of breaking into a motor vehicle, petit larceny and financial-transaction card theft. Police charged the other suspect -- Kodi Michael Smith, 18, of Bluffton -- Feb. 22.
Smith, the son of a woman previously arrested in the case, was released from the Beaufort County Detention Center on his own recognizance, and Waitekus awaits a bond hearing Wednesday, according to the jail log.
The first arrests were made Feb. 17 when a man was caught on a Bluffton store's video camera using a credit card stolen from one of the cars, according to police. His girlfriend lied about his identity, and she was charged with giving false information to police.
Investigators have two digital cameras that might have been stolen during the Feb. 5 break-ins. If you had a camera stolen that night, call Investigator J. Duke at 843-706-4550 or the Bluffton Police Department tip line at 843-706-4560.
