The sixth annual Wexford Plantation Intercollegiate men's golf tournament gets under way today at Wexford Plantation Club.
Host Francis Marion and 13 more teams will compete in the 54-hole event. Other teams in the field are Connecticut, Davidson, DePaul, Elon, Furman, Indiana, Ohio, Presbyterian, Richmond, Samford, USC Aiken, Western Carolina and William & Mary.
USC Aiken won the event in 2006 and 2009, and Elon claimed the 2008 title. Last year's champion, Wake Forest, is not in the field.
Indiana, which received eight votes in the most recent NCAA Division I coaches poll and is ranked 27th in the Golfweek/Sagarin team rankings, brings the highest profile into the event.
The first two rounds of the 54-hole event will be played today, with the final round Tuesday. Play begins with an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start both days.
