The Beaufort-Jasper Water & Sewer Authority will perform routine maintenance of its distribution system from Nov. 26 through Dec. 10, according to a news release.
Customers in Beaufort, Port Royal, Burton, Shell Point and Lady's and St. Helena islands might notice a chlorine taste or odor and slight discoloration in their tap water. If water appears discolored, customers should run cold water for a few minutes. If discoloration persists, call customer service at 843-987-9200.
The process is safe and customers can drink their water as normal, according to the release. Customers who are especially sensitive to the taste and odor of chlorine should keep an open container of drinking water in their refrigerator and change it weekly, utility officials said.
