The Beaufort County public library system wants to fill an open seat representing District 4 on its board of trustees.
The seat has been vacant for five months. Without an application from a resident of that district, the seat will be given to an "at-large" member from another area in Beaufort County, according to a news release.
"While this is a good way to ensure a full board, the board of trustees wants to do everything it can to get an applicant from each of the county's districts," according to the release.
The district includes much of Bluffton and Daufuskie Island. It is represented on County Council by Weston Newton.
