The Beaufort County Veterans Affairs Office will host a Veterans Day Parade followed by a ceremony at the Beaufort National Cemetery on Nov. 11. The parade begins at 9:30 a.m. and will follow a route through downtown Beaufort. Robert Waldrop, a World War II prisoner of war and Purple Heart recipient, will be grand marshal. The Parris Island Marine Corps Band will perform at both the parade and ceremony, which begins at 11 a.m. Brig. Gen. Frederick M. Padilla, commanding general at the Marine Corps Recruit Depot Parris Island, will be the keynote speaker. A reception at the AMVETS Post No. 70 at 1831 Ribaut Road in Port Royal will follow the ceremony.
