A 30-year-old Lady’s Island man faces drug charges after deputies were looking into car break-ins in Polk Village near Beaufort early Sunday morning, according to a Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office report.
James Taylor Jr. faces charges of trafficking ephedrine and possession with intent to distribute cocaine, according to online Beaufort County Detention Center records. Monday afternoon he was being held with bond set at $35,000.
Deputies were patrolling Polk Village shortly before 7 a.m. on Sunday when they spotted Taylor allegedly cutting across someone’s lawn, according to the report. The area was on special patrol after a report of thefts from vehicles in the area and Taylor allegedly couldn’t provide the name of someone he claimed to be visiting the in area when deputies approached him.
The deputies searched Taylor and found several pills, two bags with a substance that tested positive at the time for fentanyl and about 3.2 grams of cocaine in his pockets, according to the report.
