Candidates vying for a seat on the Port Royal Town Council can file starting this week.
Two council seats will be open in the Nov. 7 election — those of Councilwoman Mary Beth Gray-Heyward and Councilman Darryl Owens, who won a special election in May to fill the seat of the late Vernon DeLoach.
Filing opens on Wednesday at noon at Port Royal Town Hall on Paris Avenue and closes at noon Sept. 8. The filing fee is $100.
Council terms are four years. Those who want to vote in the upcoming election must register by Oct. 6.
