Two teenagers from Lady’s Island are accused of breaking into more than 25 vehicles on Lady’s Island shortly after 4 a.m. on Thursday, Beaufort County Sheriff’s deputies said.
Anthony Perry Jr., 17, and a younger teen each face five charges of breaking into a motor vehicle, with more charges pending, according to a sheriff’ office news release.
Perry is being held in the Beaufort County Detention Center on a $25,000 bond. The younger teen, who is a juvenile, was taken to a state Department of Juvenile Justice facility in Columbia, according to the release.
Items worth “several thousand dollars” and cash were stolen from vehicles parked overnight on nine roads on the island, according to the release. Several of the corresponding incident reports indicated the vehicles were unlocked.
The stolen items included handguns, ammunition, knives, cash and coins, bags and backpacks, a house key, a car stereo system, a bullet-proof vest, South Carolina driver’s licenses, a Social Security card and a passport, according to the reports.
Deputies found property stolen from the vehicles after executing search warrants at both suspects’ homes, according to the release.
The thefts occurred in the areas of Blythewood Road, Knollwood Lane, Brindlewood Drive, Shorts Landing Road, Jasmine Court, Oakwood Drive, Hilda Avenue, Miller Drive and Wiggins Road, according to the reports.
