Three people were arrested in connection with two armed robberies in Burton on Sunday.
Zajhun James, 19, Maliek Bostick, 20, and Sharrin Reed, 20, were each charged with two counts of armed robbery with a deadly weapon, a Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office release said. More charges are expected.
In the first incident, two victims told deputies they were held up at gunpoint by two black men off Shanklin Road late Sunday morning, the release said. While deputies responded to that call, another armed robbery was reported on Joe Frazier Road.
Victims in the second robbery reported a similar encounter as the first. In both cases, the victims described a female getaway driver.
A phone, wallets and other personal items were among the items reported stolen.
James, Bostick and Reed were arrested after deputies stopped a car matching a description from the robberies near Burton Wells dog park, the release said. Victims from both robberies identified the three people in the car as those responsible, according to the release.
Deputies found a handgun and property from both robberies during a search of the car, according to the release.
James, Bostick and Reed were booked at Beaufort County Detention Center, the release said. They remained in jail late Sunday afternoon with no bond set, jail logs show.
