Lane closures on U.S. 278 near the bridge to Hilton Head Island are planned during the day Friday and Saturday as part of the $45 million flyover construction project.
Contractors with R.R. Dawson Bridge Co. are planning to remove some treetops near the BP Station on U.S. 278 near Fording Island Extension and along an adjacent marsh. Most of the clearing is scheduled for Friday, and most of the debris will be removed Saturday, according to a Beaufort County news release.
Lane closures are expected form 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday and from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday.
The flyover project linking Bluffton Parkway with U.S. 278 is expected to take about 30 months to complete.
