The Hilton Head Island Recreation Association wants Beaufort County to increase its funding of the association by about $100,000.
The association plans to ask for $242,000. The county has given $140,000 to the association for each of the last six years.
The requested amount this year would mostly go toward pool operations. The association wants to increase expenditures for pool operations from $60,000 to $132,000. It's also asking for $30,000 to add light timers at Crossing Park.
Funding from the county for youth and senior programming would hold steady at $80,000.
The proposed increase would account for 11 percent of the association's annual budget. The Town of Hilton Head Island gives $629,278, or about 30% of the proposed 2013-2014 budget. The remainder is raised by program revenue, fundraising and town support.
The budget increases are expected to be discussed during today's Parks & Recreation Commission meeting at 3:30 p.m. in Town Hall, 1 Town Center Court.
