The town of Port Royal council will meet at 6:30 p.m. at Town Hall, 700 Paris Ave. to approve a fire services contract with the city of Beaufort and several ordinances, including allowing chickens in town and regulating rental units.
The proposed fire services agreement is the first new one in about 20 years and outlines how finances are divided by the town and city of Beaufort for the shared fire department.
The proposed rental property ordinance has been pared back. It which originally included a points system to track problems such as noise and parking violations, disorderly conduct and unsanitary conditions. Remaining is a requirement that a property manager or owner be available to respond in person to problems and that rental units be registered with the town.
Council will also vote on ordinances to allow residents to keep up to six hens and rezone 132 and 134 Johnny Morrall Circle.
