The Deep Well Project on Hilton Head Island made the S.C. secretary of state’s top-10 Angels List for nonprofit organizations that use at least 80 percent of their proceeds for charity.
Deep Well, which provides emergency assistance to those in need and organizes a Christmas charity, gives 91.6 percent of what it raises to those it serves, according to a news release today from the Secretary of State Mark Hammond.
Hammond’s list also included the Scrooges List of nonprofits, which give more to administration than to charity. Those making that list are:
American Breast Cancer Foundation, Inc., Baltimore, 37.5% to those it serves
