OSPREY Village would like to thank the Community Foundation of the Lowcountry for its recent award of an $18,200 community impact grant.
OSPREY Village is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit working to develop an inclusive, intergenerational residential community to support developmentally disabled adults and their families. Our planned neighborhood will rely on a core of senior volunteers to help create a "culture of care" within a diverse neighborhood setting. This will allow residents to live an independent and meaningful life where their continuing care is assured and everyone, both disabled and non-disabled, can age comfortably in place.
We are grateful for the foundation's support of our mission and vision. This latest grant will be used to hire a consultant to conduct market demand and competitive analysis research to identify target resident profiles, establish the overall project budget and recommend housing types and rent ranges that will be used as site selection criteria for our future neighborhood location.
We are investigating a handful of local properties that have the potential to be developed as our planned "neighborhood with a purpose." This market analysis will provide us with the criteria for selecting an appropriate, optimal location. By the end of 2012, we should know where our neighborhood will be located, what kind of housing we will need to provide, and how it will all be funded along with the appropriate support programs for our residents.
Never miss a local story.
