In a continuing effort to expand medical services south of the Broad River, Beaufort Memorial Hospital has added cardiology and gastroenterology to the list of specialties now available at its outpatient center in Westbury Park in Bluffton.
Bluffton Medical Services recently renovated 4,000 square feet of office space in an adjacent building to accommodate more examination rooms for physicians and a pediatric rehab center.
With the new space, Beaufort Memorial was able to bring in cardiologists Shannon Shook and Stuart Smalheiser of Lowcountry Medical Group, along with gastroenterologist Kevin Kearney.
In addition, podiatrist Jill Blau, general surgeon Deanna Mansker of Beaufort Memorial Surgical Specialists and therapist Walter Warneck, who offers individual, marriage and family counseling, now are seeing patients at the Bluffton facility.
Beaufort Memorial's HealthLink for Children opened a satellite facility in half of the newly renovated office space earlier this year. The pediatric rehab center offers occupational, physical and speech therapy, as well as kids' yoga.
Open Tuesdays and Thursdays, the center plans to schedule a third day of office hours depending on demand.
To consolidate children's services, Drs. Tim and Karen Keane moved their Sea Island Pediatrics practice from the original building into the new space.
Examination rooms still are available for two or three more physicians and Beaufort Memorial plans to continue to add specialists in the future.
The current roster of services offered by Bluffton Medical Services' 18 physicians includes orthopedics, neurology, obstetrics, gynecology, family medicine and vascular surgery.
In August, Beaufort Memorial's LifeFit Wellness Center began offering prenatal yoga classes in the adult rehab center in the main building at 11 Arley Way.
The Bluffton medical complex also features a full-service lab, digital mammography, bone density scan, X-ray and ultrasound testing.
