The 2014 Hilton Head Island Motoring Festival & Concours d'Elegance will showcase two legends of the American muscle car era.
RK Motors announced plans Friday to display a 1970 Ford Torino King Cobra and a 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle SuperSport Tribute convertible during the Nov. 1 to 2 festival at Port Royal Golf Club.
"These two pristinely conditioned muscle cars were selected especially for this prestigious Concours because they personify the very best of an era that was truly significant in American automotive history," RK Motors Director of Marketing Jeff Spiegel said. "We're honored to participate in this exclusive event, and are proud to have this opportunity to showcase the Torino and Chevelle SS."
Picked from RK Motors collection of more than 200 classic cars, the pair of historically significant muscle cars will join hundreds of other collector cars at the Concours.
One of only two original prototypes, the 1970 Ford Torino King Cobra features one-of-a-kind aerodynamic upgrades and a Boss 429 engine backed by a Toploader 4-speed transmission. The Torino was developed by Ford to compete with Dodge's Charger Daytona in NASCAR competition more than four decades ago.
Alongside the Torino will be a 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle SuperSport Tribute convertible. The Chevelle features a big block Muncie M22 "Rock-Crusher" 4-speed. The Chevelle SS Tribute is powered by a 450 horsepower, LS6 Turbo Fire V8. For information about RK Motors visit http://www.rkmotorscharlotte.com/.
