Kat Dailey has opened Kat's Dogs at G&G Grooming, a full-service pet grooming salon, in a partnership with G&G Feed and Seed of Burton.
Dailey, whose shop is at 3 Broad River Blvd., said she started as a licensed massage therapist, but switched gears after running a kennel in Iwo Jima, Japan, for dogs quarantined when their service-member families brought them overseas.
"I just fell in love and wanted to make it my life," she said.
An online course, internship, and several boarding and grooming jobs later, Dailey got a call from manager Hazel Pender at G&G saying she needed a groomer for the company's operation in a side building.
"They came to me and said, 'How would you like to work in Burton?' and I said, 'Heck yes, because I live in Yemassee,'" Dailey said.
She had been commuting to Hilton Head Island, and though the commute didn't faze her because she loved her job, the new opportunity is much more convenient, she said.
Services include full service washes, grooming, and flea dips for cats and dogs, and de-shedding treatments for dogs.
Hours: 8 a.m. until about 5 p.m., Tuesday through Saturday
