After 25 years in Beaufort, Lee's Flooring and Rugs is closing, and owner Kathy Henry retiring.
The last day for the business in Perimeter Walk at 745 Robert Smalls Parkway will be Monday.
"I love our store and have enjoyed being a part of the local business community," Henry said in a press release. "I will continue to be involved in community activities, just not as a business owner. I'm looking forward to the freedom that comes with retirement."
Lee Mark, owner of Furniture Warehouse Design and Gallery, said he's helping Henry close and sell off remaining inventory. Mark's business is also in Perimeter Walk, the complex he helped build.
"Rugs-N-More, a division of Lee's, was our first tenant when my partners and I built Perimeter Walk," Mark said in the release. "Kathy and Chuck Henry showed confidence in our new and unique concept. I think it worked for them. I know it worked for us."
Kathy Henry bought the flooring part of Lee's business, then owned by Ralph and Ledell Padgett, in 1989. She operated in several locations, including the current home of Dukes BBQ in Beaufort.
Mark would not comment on future plans for the Lee's Flooring store, but said it would be "perfectly suited for a rug store."
