A co-worker told Jordana Strosberg she had to visit Common Ground Coffeehouse and Market Cafe in downtown Beaufort.
So the communications manager for Cadillac decided to this week -- and to bring a dozen and a half 2015 Escalades and 70-plus journalists from around the world for the visit.
Beaufort is the background for a media preview of the vehicle, which has not hit showroom floors. The five-day event has journalists and the Cadillac and GMC crew staying at the Inn at Palmetto Bluff in Bluffton.
Each morning, 10 to 13 Escalades are driven to Common Ground on Bay Street in Beaufort, then to the lighthouse on Hunting Island before heading back to the resort.
No advertising material is being shot in Beaufort, Strosberg said, but photos from the media event and a photo shoot this weekend around the area will be distributed to participating publications for use with their articles on the vehicles.
Beaufort and its businesses and attractions fit the lifestyle image Cadillac wants to portray, Strosberg said.
"When you look at a Cadillac customer, everyone is looking for a unique experience," she said. "It doesn't need to be the most expensive, but it needs to be the best of the best, like a unique antiques store, or a unique coffee shop."
