Coastal Carolina Hospital is launching a new obstetrics and gynecology program next spring. Newborns would be delivered at the Hardeeville hospital for the first time in eight years, according to a news release.
The new unit will have 16 beds and new equipment, the release said. It will be housed in existing space. The hospital expects to create about 45 new jobs for health care professionals, according to the release.
Six physicians and two midwives from Beaufort and Bluffton will consolidate two independent practices this fall into one group, Riverside Women's Care, and join the medical staff at Coastal Carolina Hospital, the release said.
The OB/GYNs and midwives joining the hospital are Dr. Jo Ann Csakany, Dr. Ardra Davis-Tolbert, Dr. Meredith Mitchell, Dr. Lynn Norton, Dr. Randy Royal, Dr. Glenn Werner, and certified nurse midwives Donna Andrews and Elizabeth Durant.
