The Greater Bluffton Chamber of Commerce will hold an identity-theft protection workshop with Coastal Security Services from 5:30 to 7 p.m. today.
During the interactive workshop at the chamber office on 217 Goethe Road, attendees will learn how to protect themselves and their businesses from identity theft and scams. They'll also learn what to do if they become victims.
Janny Stidman, a trained private investigator and retired law enforcement officer, is the lead instructor.
The workshop costs $10 for chamber members and $20 for non-members. The price includes materials, according to a release.
Never miss a local story.

Identity theft is on the rise in both South Carolina and the Beaufort-Hilton Head Island area, according to reports last year to the Federal Trade Commission.
The number of self-reported complaints in the Beaufort-Hilton Head Island statistical area increased from 167 in 2011 to 204 reports in 2012, a 22-percent climb.
Twenty-five to 30 tax filers have also contacted the S.C. Department of Revenue, believing they are victims of identity theft as a result of the hacking of the agency last year.
That number is likely to grow as more South Carolinians file their taxes.
