A 17-year-old Beaufort teen wanted for attempted murder in connection with a drive-by shooting this week in Beaufort turned himself in to authorities early today.
Joshua Isaac Oliver surrendered to Beaufort police and was charged with attempted murder and possession of a firearm during the commission of aviolent crime, according to a news release from the Beaufort Police Department.
Oliver was identified as the one who used a 9 mm pistol to fire at least three shots from a car Tuesday toward a group of men playing basketball near the Charles Lind Brown Activity Center, police said.
After the shots, police say, Oliver sped off in a vehicle driven by a 15-year-old girl who stole the handgun from a relative. The girl wasarrested and sent to the Department of Juvenile Justice in Columbia.

Oliver was being held today at the Beaufort County Detention Center awaiting a bond hearing, according to the county’s jail log.
