Michelle's Entry: I am 23 years old, 5'7" tall and 175 lbs. I am overweight. I am ready, however, to lose the weight and get healthy in 2006. I would love the help of The Island Packet and a trainer to do this.
There are many reasons that I want to lose weight. The main reason is that I want to be proud of my body. Right now, I am upset with the way that I look and feel. In high school and college, I was very active but since moving here and starting my career, I have steadily gained weight and become less active. I used to love to go out and be social. In the summer one of my favorite places was the sandbar. Now I am embarrassed to go because I feel like the biggest one there. I would love to be able to go this summer and be proud of what I look like.
I know that I don't have to lose a ton of weight, but I think I am in the norm in that way. Trying to lose 10-20 pounds is sometimes more frustrating than trying to lose a whole bunch. I know a great opportunity when I see one, and this is something I really want to do. On my own, I would have a tought time getting motivated, but with a trainer and people watching my progress (especially the kids I teach), I would be able to lose the weight. I want to show my class that when you have a goal and put your mind to something, you can do anything. Please give me this wonderful chance and I will not waste it.
