German native Edelgard Thiele and her husband, Dr. Bob Thiele, will bring a little authenticity to this year's Oktoberfest from noon to 3 p.m. Oct. 31 at Christ Lutheran Church on Hilton Head Island.

Edelgard is making her mother's German red cabbage and German chocolate cake from scratch to serve at the festival. She is among several other German women at the church. The main thing she enjoys at the church's seasonal event is the music.

"They have a great band," Thiele said. "We had them last year for the first time and they are coming back this year."

The couple wore their native costumes in 2008 -- a dirndl for Edelgard and lederhosen for Bob -- and plan to attend again this year.

In addition to the music of Bach and Beethoven, the Rhinelanders will perform. The Bluffton Fire

District will be grilling brats, and church members will hold an art show and sale.

Advance lunch tickets are $12 for adults and $5 for children younger than 12.

Beer and pretzels will be sold for $3. Face painting will be offered for the little ones.

The church is located at 829 William Hilton Parkway on Hilton Head Island.
