Area churches are celebrating fall by offering a feast for the soul as well as the senses through annual bazaars and festivals -- even a choir festival featuring singers from both sides of the Broad River. Here's a roundup of some the upcoming events:
WESLEY BAZAAR
The annual Wesley United Methodist Church fall bazaar is from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. today in the Wesley education building at Duke and West streets in Beaufort.
Plants, crafts, canned goods, books and baked goods will be on sale. Fish and rib dinner sales begin at 11 a.m. along with live entertainment. A silent auction also will be held to benefit the church's and women's missions.
The United Methodist Women's Noon Inspirational Moments luncheon is at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday. Ethel Ladson, Christian education instructor at Faith Memorial Baptist Church on St. Helena Island, will discuss "Survival."

CARTERET STREET BAZAAR
Just down the street from Wesley is the annual Carteret Street United Methodist Church Bazaar from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. today at the church at 408 Carteret St. in Beaufort. The free bazaar will feature the Handicrafts Booth where the Carteret Cats will be sold, as well as booths for baked goods, frozen foods, a silent auction, sod and bedding plants and a "good junk" booth offering tools, crafts, toys and games. Concessions will include cotton candy and barbecue dinners to be eaten in or taken out. All proceeds benefit church missions and programs.

A CHOIR FESTIVAL
A free Choir Festival conducted by composer Arlen Clarke begins at 6 p.m. today at the Parish Church of St. Helena (Episcopal) at 505 Church St. in downtown Beaufort.
The festival includes three choirs from St. Helena's, the choir from St. Peter's Catholic Church in Beaufort and members of the choir from Church of the Cross in Bluffton. CDs are available by reservation.

DISTRICT THREE OLD ASHLEY BAPTIST ASSOCIATION
District Three of the Old Ashley Baptist Association's annual Harvest Day service begins at 9 a.m. today at Second Celestial Baptist Church, where the Rev. Isreal Boatwright is the pastor. The church is at 715 Kinlock Road in Dale.

JEHOVAH CHURCH OF JESUS CHRIST
Jehovah Church of Jesus Christ will sponsor a Seafood Fest from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. today.
Dinners are $8 a plate and include fish, shrimp, french fries or hush puppies. Other options are available. Orders of five or more dinners may be delivered. The church is at 18 John Fripp Circle on St. Helena Island, behind Freeman Landscaping.

SEA ISLAND CHAPEL
Dr. Roger Capps, missionary to Singapore, Bulgaria, Liberia and the Czech Republic, will preach at 10:15 a.m. Sunday at Sea Island Chapel, 4 Cardinal Drive on Hilton Head Island. Capps' wife, Janice, is a Beaufort native.
The Cappses helped begin the Chapel Fellowship at Indigo Pines. They live in Beaufort between assignments.

LADY'S ISLAND BAPTIST CHURCH
Lady's Island Baptist Church will hold closing services for the 15th pastor's anniversary at 2 p.m. Sunday with True Vine Missionary Baptist Church of Conway and the Rev. Harry Wilson. The Rev. Sam T. Spain is the pastor.

The Central Baptist Church family will celebrate the Rev. Levon Byrd's 12th anniversary at 7:30 nightly Wednesday through Friday, culminating at 2 p.m. Oct. 25.

The Missionary Auxiliary of the Scottsville Baptist Church will be sponsoring a program titled "Who can I turn to?" at 7:30 nightly Thursday and Friday and at 4 p.m. Oct. 24. CONGREGATION BETH YAM
A special Havdallah service to benefit the Hilton Head Humane Association will be held in the Congregation Beth Yam parking area at 5 p.m. Oct. 24. The program is open to the public. Rabbi Brad Bloom will conduct a Blessing of the Animals in conjunction with the weekly Torah portion "Parashat Noah," which tells the story of Noah and the animals on the ark. Those who attend are invited to bring their cats, dogs or reptiles to join in a pet parade at the program. There also will be the opportunity to adopt a pet from representatives of the animal shelter. The synagogue is located at 4501 Meeting St. on Hilton Head Island.

ST. ANDREW BY-THE-SEA UNITED METHODIST CHURCH
The Rev. Ken Nelson has been selected as the guest leader for St. Andrew By-the-Sea United Methodist Church's Consecration Sunday at 10 a.m. Oct. 25.
The church will deviate from its regular 9 and 11:15 a.m. schedule and hold just one service that day followed by a celebration luncheon. Nelson will assist St. Andrew Senior Pastor Neil M. Yongue with the service. A native of Beaufort, Nelson has served appointments across the S.C. Annual Conference. The church is at 20 Pope Ave. on Hilton Head Island.

UNITY CHURCH OF HILTON HEAD ISLAND
Unity Church of Hilton Head Island will host guest speaker Liah Kraft-Kristaine at the 10:30 a.m. service Oct. 25. Kraft-Kristaine has taught metaphysical studies around the world for the past 18 years, as well as speaking and training for corporations and associations. SERVANTS OF GOD INTERNATIONAL OUTREACH TABERNACLE
Servants of God International Outreach Tabernacle "Men Of Valor" men's ministry is hosting a "100 Men In Black" speaker's program at 4 p.m. Oct. 25. The theme will be "How a Saint Deals With Temptation."
