Members of the Bluffton United Methodist Church broke ground Wednesday on the church's expansion on Calhoun Street.
The Rev. Thomas Pearson Jr., Walterboro District superintendent of the United Methodist Church, and the Rev. Joey McDonald of the Bluffton church led the ceremony for the $1.4 million expansion. Construction is expected to start in November and take 10 to 12 months. The church will double its seating capacity to 375 people, according to a news release.
Cogun Inc. is building the expansion, and Court Atkins Architects designed it.
