Missions at Providence. I am on what we call our missions committee. I am the person who takes care of Samaritan's Purse's Operation Christmas Child project. I buy all of the things that go in the shoeboxes. I shop from Bluffton to Hilton Head Island and buy the little stuff that goes in it. I go to TJMaxx, and I ask them every August if they would please save the white shoeboxes for me. They give me the boxes, all free of charge, and I pick that up every Thursday from them. In the bulletin, I request Christmas wrapping paper and so different members of the congregation will give me Christmas paper ... At the church, we have a food program where the different food merchants will give us food that is a couple of days before it expires. I take it to different organizations here on Hilton Head. I have given to Hilton Head Gardens. I have given to St. James Baptist Church. They serve food on Thursdays ... I am also a Stephen minister at Providence, and we comfort people, talk to people that may want or need our help at some point.
A giving heart. If someone calls me and says, "Can you do this for me or take me somewhere?" I will do that. I try not to overload myself. Basically, if someone called me or I might see somebody in the store, and they say, "What can Deep Well do for me? My floor is sinking by the stove," I don't personally do that, but I will then take it back to Deep Well.
