A mission. For me and my wife, Ketura, our biggest mission is the work that we do in Haiti. My wife grew up doing missionary work, and I got involved with it after we were married. We have an orphanage in Haiti we work with and are trying to get a clinic there as well. The church right now is planning to come out on a mission trip with us in 2014.
We're also involved in volunteering with other activities through church, like Family Promise, and in just every way it means to be an active member at the church -- spreading evangelism, preaching the Gospel and spreading God's love to people.
Giving of yourself. We feel we've been given this mission. We're bringing good medicine and education through the orphanage. We do a lot of building and construction work. The most rewarding part is sharing God's love and giving of yourself. You're really able to see the difference you make in someone's life when there is such a great need.
Seeing people. It is a way of highlighting the population of Haiti itself and sort of getting rid of all the negative things people hear in the news about Haiti. We get to see people for who they are. These are people who have so many problems but have so much hope because they have God.
