Pastor and theologian Douglas F. Kelly will speak three times at the First Scots Independent Presbyterian Church of Beaufort on Dec. 1. Following a question-and-answer session during Sunday school at 9:30 a.m., and his sermon during the morning worship service at 10:45 a.m., Kelly will speak at 4 p.m. on revival, with emphasis on the historic Beaufort revival of the 1830s.
Kelly is a professor of theology and philosophy at the Reformed Theological Seminary in Charlotte. He is active in the Presbyterian Church in America denomination, and his many books include "If God Already Knows, Why Pray?" He has worked on translations of sermons and commentary by John Calvin.
His book, "Preachers With Power," includes a look at Daniel Baker, pastor of Independent Presbyterian Church in Savannah whose preaching sparked the 19th century Beaufort revival. All events will be held at 302 Burroughs Ave. in Beaufort. Details: 843-593-0176; firstname.lastname@example.org.
