HOLY WEEK LABYRINTH
For the 10th consecutive year, the Holy Week Labyrinth event is from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday through Wednesday and from 2 to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Wednesday at St. John's Lutheran Church, 157 Lady's Island Drive, Beaufort. Fourteen religious art pieces by Joseph Pizzat's titled, "The Stations In/Of the Cross and Palm Sunday Still-Life," are on exhibit from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. weekdays through April 25 at St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church in Bluffton. Pizzat's contemporary work offers samples of two Stations of the Cross that depict the conviction, crucifixion, death and resurrection of Jesus. Holy Week and Easter Sunday Mass events at St. Francis By the Sea Catholic Church of Hilton Head Island begin at 5:30 p.m. today with Palm Sunday Vigil Mass in the family center with the Blessing of Palms. The Mass of the Lord's Supper will be celebrated at 6 p.m. in English and 7:30 p.m. in Spanish on Thursday. The adoration of the Blessed Sacrament continues until 10 p.m. in the family center. Good Friday's veneration of the cross and communion service begins at 3 p.m. in English and 6 p.m. in Spanish. First Presbyterian Church's annual Easter egg hunt begins at 10:30 a.m. today. Three Palm Sunday services are planned Sunday. Traditional services will be at 8:30 and 11 a.m. with the Sanctuary Choir presenting the cantata. CrossRoads informal worship begins at 9:45 a.m.
A Maundy Thursday observance begins at 4:30 p.m. Thursday with a talk, "Crisis in the Middle East," by international correspondent Ken Timmerman, who will discuss the persecution of Christians and other issues in the Middle East. Timmerman is an investigative reporter and Nobel Peace Prize nominee who has been tracking terrorism and weapons of mass destruction programs for 25 years as a journalist, consultant and best-selling author. A fellowship dinner begins at 5:30 p.m.; cost is $8 for adults and $4 for children. Reservations are necessary by noon Thursday.

St. Andrew By-The-Sea United Methodist Church will offer Palm/Passion services at 9 and 11:15 a.m. Sunday followed by an Easter egg hunt at 12:30 p.m. for children (fifth grade and younger). Children are encouraged to be part of the Procession of the Palms at the beginning of either worship service.
Good Friday Service, "One Sacred Hour," is at 7:30 p.m. Friday. Directed by Tim Reynolds, about 70 singers from the church and the community will perform music from the African-American and European traditions. The service will include readings based on the events of Holy Week through the crucifixion.
Easter Sunday Sunrise Service begins at 6:30 a.m. April 24 at Coligny Beach. Services will be held at the church in the event of rain or imminent threat of rain. The quartet will play several pieces by itself, and accompany the Providence choir on Ralph Vaughn Williams' choral masterpiece "O Clap Your Hands." An Easter egg hunt will follow the service.
