Name: Kristy Gonzalez
Children: Braeden, 5, and Jack, 3
Never miss a local story.
Occupation: Real estate agent
Favorite mommy moment: After bathtime, wrapping up the boys in their towels and giving them hugs and kisses. Nothing cuter than a clean little boy.
Most challenging moment: My two boys are very close in age and are active, curious boys. I call it the "divide and conquer move," when one goes one way, the other the other way, and I'm in the middle, trying to be in two places at once.
Favorite book: "Breakfast at Tiffany's"
Go-to rainy day activity: We turn up the music and have a dance party in the living room.
Beach must-haves: Our beach basket full of nets, buckets and shovels -- all the necessary tools to move water and sand around.
Favorite local spot: We like hopping in our golf cart and going down to the Bluffton/Alljoy beach on the May River. Lots of interesting things for the boys to explore -- crabs, sticks and shells.
Funniest thing your kids ever said? My oldest son kept asking to go to "Chocolate Lake." It took us a while to figure out that he was saying "Chick-fil-A." Chick-fil-A will forever be "Chocolate Lake" in our family.
What's the one thing that's OK to let go? Having to do everything right away. Some things can wait.
What surprises you about being a mom? Becoming a mom was a long, challenging process for me, and I almost had a fairy-tale idea of what raising children would be like. It is much harder than I ever imagined. However, it is so true what people say: Being a mom is the hardest job in the world but the best job in the world.
Advice for other moms. As the book says, "don't sweat the small stuff." Being a mom is a hard job, and it is full of mistakes. But at the end of the day you love your children and do your best for them. So who cares if you forget the diaper bag on the day your son jumps into a huge mud puddle. Right?
