Name: Kate Chiafolo
Children: Emily, 4; Frankie, 2; William, 9 months
Occupation: Part-time nurse at Coastal Carolina Hospital; however, Chiafolo has mostly been at home for the past several months caring for her youngest child. William has Down Syndrome. He has had two heart surgeries since November and is now struggling with breathing problems associated with pneumonia.
Go-to dinner: Grilled meat and vegetables
Biggest pet peeve: When she has just cleaned the house or mopped the floor, and the dog comes in and makes a mess
Hobbies: Going to the beach, going to festivals in the area, spending time with friends
Volunteer work: Chiafolo teaches Sunday school every week at Island Lutheran Church. As a member of the MOMS Club of Bluffton and Hilton Head, she coordinates their volunteer work for Family Promise of Beaufort County.
Favorite mommy moment: "When they run up and hug you and kiss you and say, 'I love you,'" she said.
Most challenging moment: "Never," she said, jokingly. "Mommy's always calm, right? Bedtime is a little challenging, when everybody is tired and cranky and needs to go to bed at the same time, especially if my husband's not in town or something. ... Once I added the third child, bedtime is definitely the most challenging time."
Stress reliever: Pedicures and foot massages
Advice for other moms: "Get out of the house," Chiafolo said. "To me, getting out, finding a park, finding free activities ... I like to connect with other people in the community."
