For more than two decades, locals and visitors have flocked to Shelter Cove Harbour on Hilton Head Island on Tuesday nights for fireworks, crafts and family friendly entertainment.
This summer the fireworks still will light up the sky at dusk on Tuesdays, but HarbourFest also will go on throughout the week. Organizers with Palmetto Dunes Oceanfront Resort have expanded this year's festivities to include bounce houses and other family activities.
Beginning today and running through Sept. 5, longtime HarbourFest entertainer Shannon Tanner will perform at 6:30 and 8 p.m. Monday through Friday. San Miguel's and Scott's Fish Market will offer live entertainment from 5:30 to 9:30 each night. And as if that weren't enough, Cappy the Clown will be on hand to work her magic with the little ones from 6 to 9:30 p.m. Sunday through Friday.
"We just decided to increase our offerings for families," Palmetto Dunes director of marketing Karen Kozemchak said. "(HarbourFest is) great because it does bring visitors back to Hilton Head."
This year's fireworks schedule will be June 14, 21 and 28; July 12, 19 and 26; Aug. 2 and 9; and July 4. All events are free and open to the public.
