Biggest reward from teaching: Teaching is probably one of the most difficult but thankfully most rewarding jobs a person could have. I experience many daily rewards: a smile from a student when they "get it;" the affirmation of a student who says, "I am smart;" a positive meeting with the parent of a struggling student who is mastering goals and experiencing success; the sound of a busy, cooperative class working on a project; laughter during a fun friday kickball game. However, I would have to say, after teaching and coaching in Beaufort all these many years, it is most rewarding when I run into a former student in the grocery store or somewhere in the community and they tell me how much I meant in their young life. When they say that they appreciate how I believed in them and how I made learning fun, that makes all the hard work worth it.
