The Lowcountry's setting offers some special events throughout Holy Week and Easter. Whether it is a Holy Eucharist overlooking the May River or an Easter sunrise service on area beaches.
For those concerned with no-see-ums and possible inclement weather, traditional services are also offered indoors.

THE PARISH CHURCH OF ST. HELENA

A Liturgy of the Palms and Holy Eucharist will be at 8 a.m., 10:15 a.m. and 6 p.m. Sunday. Holy Eucharist will be offered at 7:30 a.m. Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. There also will be a service using the 1928 Prayer Book at 5 p.m. Wednesday. Maundy Thursday begins with an 11 a.m. Holy Eucharist and healing service, a Noonday Prayer Service at noon and Holy Eucharist, stripping of the altar and children's first Holy communion will follow at 7 p.m. On Good Friday, services are at noon (with a separate children's service), and Stations of the Cross are at 7 p.m. There will be two opportunities for baptism on April 7: in the river at 11 a.m. and in the church at 2 p.m. Easter Sunday will begin at 7 a.m. with a Festival Eucharist of the Resurrection. Another Festival Eucharist of the Resurrection and Flowering of the Cross will be held at 9 a.m. Two more services will follow at 11:15 a.m. and 6 p.m. The church is at 505 Church St., Beaufort. PROVIDENCE PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH, HILTON HEAD ISLAND
The church will host an Easter egg hunt at noon Sunday. Children and parents will meet in the Mills Chapel with their Easter baskets/bags, and there will be fellowship time with refreshments for adults while they enjoy the fun. Visitors are welcome. Holy Week services and activities include a Maundy Thursday soup supper at 6 p.m. and communion services at 7 p.m. The community Good Friday service is from noon to 3 p.m. at St. Luke's and will feature Dr. Martin Lifer preaching at 12:15 p.m. Easter Sunday services are at 9 a.m. and 11 a.m., with contemporary worship at 10 a.m. The church is at 171 Cordillo Parkway. THE CHURCH OF THE CROSS
A Community Easter Celebration is 11 a.m.-1 p.m. today at the Buckwalter Parkway Campus, 495 Buckwalter Parkway, Bluffton. Children and families are invited to enjoy the Easter egg hunt, bounce houses and games. Refreshments will be provided. All ages are welcome. Bring an Easter basket. Palm Sunday traditional services at 5:28 p.m. today as well as at 8 and 10 a.m. Sunday at the Calhoun Street Campus, 110 Calhoun St., Bluffton. The church will hold its contemporary Palm Sunday praise worship service at 9:30 a.m. at the Buckwalter Parkway Campus. The services will be adorned in palm leaves, and each attendee will receive a cross made of palm leaves. Holy Week events will be at the Calhoun Street Campus. At noon Monday the church will host a Holy Eucharist on the Bluff overlooking the May River. There will be a morning prayer service at 8 a.m. Tuesday, and a healing/communion service at 6 p.m. Wednesday. Community and church members can take part in the Holy Eucharist foot-washing followed by the stripping of the altar at 7 p.m. Maundy Thursday. At noon and 7 p.m. Good Friday, the church will have the Stations of the Cross at 7 p.m.

The church will hold traditional Festival Eucharist Easter services at 8 and 10 a.m. April 8 at the Calhoun Street Campus. The CrossPoint Worship Service with a children's message will be at 9 and 11 a.m. at the Buckwalter Parkway Campus. The services will be adorned with Easter lilies and other florals.

The Sanctuary Choir will present "Tenebrae -- A Candlelight Communion Service" at 9 a.m. and 11 a.m. Sunday in the sanctuary. Admission is free. Good Friday services begin at noon in the sanctuary, with a Good Friday program in the children's building for children through fifth grade. Easter Sunday services begin at 6:30 a.m. April 8 with a sunrise service on the beach in front of the Marriott's Grande Ocean Resort. CARTERET STREET UNITED METHODIST CHURCH
The Rev. Curtis Young, of the Colleton Circuit, will speak at the final Monday Lenten Worship Service at the church, which will be followed by lunch provided by the United Methodist Women. The Chancel Choir will perform the Easter cantata, "Lift High the Cross," at 6 p.m. Palm Sunday. A reception will follow in the Fellowship Hall.
CHURCH OF THE PALMS UNITED METHODIST, OKATIE
Passion/Palm Sunday will begin worship services at 10:30 a.m. Sunday with a children's procession of palm branches and will include Holy Communion. The message will be "The Shadow of Two Parades." Maundy Thursday services begin at 7 p.m. with worship and Holy Communion, followed by a stripping of the chancel. The message will be "The Shadow of Love." Good Friday services begin at 7 p.m. with a Tenebrae service "in the round." The purpose of the service is to re-create the betrayal, abandonment and agony of the events leading to and including the crucifixion of Christ. It is left unfinished because the story isn't over until Easter Day. The message will be "The Darkness of Silence, Suffering and Death." Holy Saturday services are 10:30 a.m.-noon April 7 with a children's resurrection egg hunt on church grounds. Along with the story of the Resurrection, there will be eggs to find, prizes and refreshments for children younger than 12. Easter/Resurrection Sunday services begin at 10:30 a.m. April 8 with worship service and Holy Communion. The message will be "The Dawn of Light in the Darkness."

The church will celebrate its 98th anniversary with nightly services Monday-Friday. The theme of the is "Jesus, the Light of the World." ALL SAINTS EPISCOPAL CHURCH, HILTON HEAD ISLAND
A service patterned after those used in the first centuries of the church, called "The Great Vigil of Easter," begins at 8 p.m. April 7. This service traditionally begins with the kindling of a fire and the lighting of the Paschal Candle. Following the service, there will be a party.
