Crystal Chaplin of St. Helena Island, S.C., and Morris Pridgen of Edgefield, S.C., were married July 12, 2014, at Ebenezer Baptist Church on St. Helena Island with Pastor Leonard Ritter Sr., officiating.
The bride is the daughter of James and Lottie Chaplin and the granddaughter of Pleasant Byas, the late Richard “Bubba Louse” Byas Sr., and the late Julia Belle Chaplin. In 2000, she graduated from Beaufort High School and entered the United States Air Force. Currently, she is a graduate of Saint Leo University and is a Non Commission Officer, Command Section at 437th Airlift Wing at Joint Base Charleston.
The groom is the son of Gene and Kathy Pridgen of Edgefield, S.C. He is a 1998 graduate from Strom Thurmond High School and received his degree from Aiken Technical College. Currently, he is a police officer for the Charleston Police Department.
The bride was escorted by her father and given in marriage by her parents.
Maid of honor was Tahawah Chaplin. Matron of honor was Alisha Coleman. Bridesmaids were Emily Pridgen, Keisha Cooper and Charlene Alexander.
Best men were Jacob Pridgen and Aaron Burnham. Groomsmen were Jay Culbreath, Ralph Chapman and Paul Smith.
Ring bearer was Mark-Anthony Sloan. Flower girls were Jayla Evans and De’naja Williams. Ring bell girl was Amaya Coleman
The couple plan to honeymoon in Maui, Hawaii, and make their home in North Charleston.
