Sarah Joyce Lawrence and Scott Edward Simmons were married 4:30 p.m. August 13, 2011, in Fairmont United Methodist Church, Raleigh, N.C.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Dan Little Lawrence Jr. of Bluffton. She is the granddaughter of Mrs. Dan L. Lawrence of Birmingham, Ala., and the late Dan L Lawrence Sr. and the late Dr and Mrs. Stephen D. Smith of Rome, Ga.
The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Lee Simmons of Swannanoa, N.C. He is the grandson of the Rev. Wiley Guthrie and the late Margaret Guthrie and of Mrs. Dorothy Simmons and the late Hartman Simmons.
The Rev. Chuck Askew officiated the ceremony. The bride was given in marriage by her father. The maid of honor was Megan Diane Dolyniuk of Hilton Head Island. Bridesmaids were Joanna Jeffers, sister of the groom of Limestone, Tenn., Kayla Edwards of Raleigh, Caitlin Stevens of Durham, N.C., Charlotte Boney of Estes Park, Colo., Stefanjia Giric of Hilton Head, Jamie Peggs of Raleigh, Jackie Ussery of Hilton Head. Abigail Elizabeth Arnold, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Mike Arnold of Lafayette, Colo., was flower girl.Honorary bridesmaids were Sarah Calvert of Charlotte, N.C. and Lori White of Raleigh.
Nathan Mlot of Atlanta, served as best man. Groomsman were Jeff Ford, Matt Jagoda and Michael Diaz, all of Raleigh, Danny Lawrence, brother of the bride, of Charlotte, and Brandon Mueller of Greenville, The bride carried a bouquet made of white freesia, purple zinnias, purple hydrangea, green button mums, green spider mums, purple stock and scented geranium leaves, wrapped in ivory organza ribbon.
The bridesmaid’s bouquets were designed with purple stock, purple Florigene carnations and purple zinnias, green button mums, green hydrangea and yellow gerber daisies. Ceremony arrangements were designed with Bells of Ireland, purple larkspur, green hydrangea, green spider mums, purple and lavender stock, purple carnations and yellow solidago and greenery.
Following the ceremony a reception was held at The Woman’s Club of Raleigh.
The bride is a 2007 graduate of Hilton Head High School. She graduated from North Carolina State University in 2011 with a BA in psychology. She begins graduate school in the fall for her MAT with an emphasis in special education. She is employed by Lead Mine Elementary School as a Teaching Assistant.
The groom graduated from Asheville Christian Academy in 2003. He received his degree in Civil Engineering from North Carolina State University in 2007. In 2010, he received his Masters in Landscape Architecture from North Carolina State University.
He is employed by HadenStanziale, a landscape architecture firm in Durham, N.C. Following a honeymoon trip to Bar Harbor, Maine the couple will reside in Raleigh.
