Helen Rose Roper of Beaufort and William Simons Dovell of Charleston were married at 1 p.m. March 26, 2011 at Summerall Chapel, The Citadel, Charleston.
The Rev. Nan White officiated.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Michael William Roper of Charleston. The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Isaac Dovell III of Charleston.
Matron of honor was Anne Roper Thomas, sister of the bride. Bridesmaids were Aimee Seignious Crouch and Kelly Jane Grady, cousins of the bride; Anne Dovell Lundgren and Elizabeth Dovell Gilbert, sisters of the groom; and Kelly Dennis Dean and Ashley Smalley Hobbs.

Best man was Chadwick Gerald Jenkins. Groomsmen were Jeremy John Gilbert and Todd Ernest Lundgren, brothers-in-law of the groom; Robert LaRoy Cox, Vincent Peter Ferrara, Kurt Michael Gray and Ronald James Gaulden.
The bride graduated from Bishop England High School, was a magna cum laude graduate of Wofford College, and received her Juris Doctorate from the University of South Carolina School of Law. She is an Assistant Public Defender for Beaufort County and an adjunct instructor at Park University - Marine Corps Air Station, Beaufort. The bride carried a prayer book that her great-grandmother, Anne Burns Hynes, carried on her wedding day in 1912.
The groom graduated from Middleton High School and Appalachian State University. He is a Geophysics Specialist for GEL Geophysics, LLC in Charleston.
Following the ceremony, the couple honeymooned at the Outer Banks, N.C.
