We all must share in cost of freedom

I would like to respond to the recent letter, "Beaufort cannot afford to give F-35B a chance."

Out of touch on the F-35B

Regarding the recent letter, "Beaufort Cannot Afford To Give the F-35B a Chance" published Aug. 21, I was appalled and incensed at the position taken by the writer. I found it ironic that the author of a letter, "Columnist got it wrong about IRS," accused columnist Jeff Bergner of selectively excluding facts from an article about the IRS -- then attempted to support his accusation with his own selected set of facts. The author is guilty of the same...

SC school problems go beyond classroom

South Carolina schools do not produce the results we need. Everybody offers ineffective Band Aids and micromanagement rather than comprehensive reform.

The word 'legal' key to immigration debate

How do we define immigration? President George W. Bush once said, "We are a nation of immigrants." What is missing from most definitions is that we are a nation of legal immigrants, a melting pot of personalities, talents and intellect, all woven around a rich history of ethnic diversity.
