The Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office is investigating an armed robbery that led to the shooting of a 33-year old Burton man.

Just after midnight on Saturday, deputies responded to a reported gunshot victim in the area of Builder’s First Source on Parris Island Gateway. Deputies met with the victim and his cousin, who were en route to Beaufort Memorial Hospital for a gunshot wound the victim had sustained at his home.

The victim said he’d arrived at his Billy Hill Road residence just before midnight to discover two unknown, masked intruders inside his home, according to a news release today from the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office. They demanded money, and a struggle ensued between the victim and his attackers. The victim was shot. The robbers stole an undisclosed amount of cash before fleeing the area in an unknown direction, the release said.

The victim then called his cousin to take him to the hospital. Due to the victim’s condition, they decided to pull over to notify law enforcement and EMS, the release said. The victim was transported by ambulance to Beaufort Memorial for treatment. His condition remains undisclosed at this time.

No further description was available of the suspects.

The Sheriff’s Office is asking anyone with any information to contact Investigator Cpl. B. Chapman at 843-470-3469 or the Beaufort County Dispatch Center at 843-524-2777.
